How to invoice clients in USDT (2026): template + pitch

TL;DR — Copy the invoice template below, send the pitch script to your existing clients, route replies to your USDT address on Bybit. Most tech-comfortable clients agree on the first ask, especially if you offer 1% off for paying in USDT (you still save 6%).

Step 1 — pitch to your client

Send this email or Slack message to clients who still pay you in PayPal:

Subject: Small payment change — save us both on fees

Hi [Client],

Starting next invoice, I'd love to switch from PayPal to USDT (stablecoin, 1 USDT = 1 USD).

Why: PayPal takes 2.9-7% on international payments. USDT transfer is ~$1 regardless of amount.

For you it means:
- Same dollar amount, same speed.
- One-time setup on a crypto exchange (Bybit, Binance, Coinbase — any works).
- I'll send a 1% discount on the invoice as a thank-you.

I can walk you through setup in 5 minutes if it's new. Otherwise just reply yes and I'll send an updated invoice with the USDT address.

Step 2 — the invoice template

Once client agrees, your invoice includes this payment section:

Step 3 — the 5-step workflow

Get your USDT TRC20 address from Bybit. Deposit → USDT → TRC20 → copy address.
Test with the client first. Ask them to send $5-10 USDT. Confirm it lands. Do this ONCE per client.
Send the real invoice with template above.
Watch your Bybit spot wallet. TRC20 confirms in 1-3 minutes. Send the client a quick "received, thanks".
Cash out via P2P (for spending money) or hold USDT (for savings — Bybit offers 2-5% APY on USDT).

What if the client says no?

"I don't trust crypto." → Explain USDT = literal dollars, backed 1:1, no volatility. Offer to do a $5 test on their side to show it's simple.
"My accountant won't accept it." → Share the invoice CSV export from Bybit. Works for most accountants.
"It's too complicated." → Offer a 10-min screen-share walkthrough. Most clients come around after seeing it once.
"Not now." → Keep inviting. Switch rate usually goes up in year 2 as clients see peers do it.

Expected conversion rate

Based on freelancer surveys: ~40% of tech-comfortable clients agree on first pitch. Another ~30% agree after 1-2 follow-ups. Remaining ~30% stay on PayPal/Wise. If 40% of your clients switch, your annual fee savings on $60K invoice load is ~$1,700.
